Team in National Semi-Finals
NEW JERSEY (OCN) — For the first time in Essex County College school history, their men’s basketball team is in the semi-finals of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) championship. Coach Corey Lowery’s team edged Des Moines Area Community College 68-66 in last night’s quarterfinal round.
The Wolverines will now face Wake Technical Community College (North Carolina) at 7:00 PM tomorrow in Danville, Illinois.
In last night’s game, Essex County College trailed by 2 points at halftime. Dion Rogers and Chris Compas both scored 22 points in the victory. The Region XIX champions had defeated Dean College of Massachusetts 85-82 in the first round.

NEW JERSEY (OCN) — Tomorrow, the Board of School Estimate (BOSE) of Essex County College will hold a public hearing at 2 p.m. in J. Harry Smith Hall. By official action to be taken at this public meeting, the Board has the ultimate authority to determine the amount of money necessary to be appropriated for operational and capital needs of Essex County College for Fiscal Year 2013-2014, exclusive of the amount to be received from the State of NJ.
