SCOTLAND (OCN) — Are your friends and family stuck in Scotland? It is possible but if you receive the following electronic mail, it is NOT from your friends and family and is a scam. Special thanks to Janet on the New York Forum who alerted us with a copy below.
If you receive such a note, you should call (do not reply or you will be on a future spam list) the person so they can contact their financial institution that is linked to the email.
I’m writing this with tears in my eyes, I came down here to Edinburgh United Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately i was mugged at the park of the hotel where i stayed, all cash, credit card and cell phone were stolen off i but luckily for us i still have our passports with me
I’ve been to the embassy and the Police here but they’re not helping issues at all and my flight leaves in less than 3hrs from now but I’m having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won’t let me leave until i settle the bills.
Am freaked out at the moment..
