NEW YORK (OCN) — Markham, Donnelly & Associates is recalling about 7,000,000 of their regular and lite cartons of cigarettes that were sold between June 2007 through August 2008.
The recall is being done due to possible smoke and burn hazard to consumers. So far, Markham, Donnelly & Associates has received over 5,000 reports of smoke coming from the cigarettes when they came in close contact with a match or lighter, including 27 consumer who developed multiple types of cancer, heart disease, respiratory disease, circulatory disease and emphysema.
Consumers are being urged to stop using the cigarettes immediately and contact Markham, Donnelly & Associates to determine if their carton is affected. The recalled cartons serial numbers begin with MDAR-2007-01 (Regular) and MDAL-2007-01 (Lite) and is 20 digits in length.
