NEW YORK (OCN) — What can Brown do for Blue? Brown can race for Blue. Brown is none other than Big Brown, an American Thoroughbred racehorse and winner of the 2008 Kentucky Derby and 2008 Preakness Stakes.
Brown will be racing for Blue, also known as 30-year-old Kenneth Baribault.
Baribault is a Long Island police officer who was struck on Sunday the 18th by an alleged drunk driver on the Long Island Expressway after pulling over a previous driver for alleged drunk driving.
Officer Baribault was fortunate to have an off-duty firefighter, Philip Scarfi, passing by a few moments after the incident. Scarfi, the brave firefighter that he is, risked his safety by crossing six lanes of traffic to get to Officer Baribault in his damaged cruiser. Officer Baribault is in critical but stable condition at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
So while all eyes are on Brown, all hearts will be on Blue.
