Q: Can liens be placed upon violators?
A: Absolutely. This can be done for non-payments.
Q: When are liens placed upon violators?
A: Liens are typically placed 90 days after your appearance/payment date.
Q: Where are liens placed upon me?
A: It is done in New York City Civil Court.
Q: I don’t have a bank account. Do I have to worry about the liens?
A: Yes because liens can be applied to your wages and income tax refunds.
Q: Will liens appear on my Credit Report?
A: Liens can display* on your Credit Report and even after it’s settled/paid off.
Q: How come I can’t find info on liens when I searched?
A: Try doing a search for Judgments** instead of liens.
Q: How long are judgments on me tracked?
A: They are tracked until they expire after 20 years.
*New NCAP standards will remove liens from credit reports starting April 16, 2018.
