New York has lots of Bed and Breakfast (sometimes called Inns) in New York City. A benefit is the cost compared to a hotel and the privacy that you gain over a shared hostel.
Since Bed and Breakfast in New York are often small, they have a limited number of rooms at their location and may not take reservations to hold the rooms or may require a non-refundable deposit which goes towards the room.
The BedandBreakfast.com and ILoveInns.com listings will show you all B&B’s and Inns with their website and average room rates and if you are planning on getting married, BBOnline.com will provide a filtered listing of B&B that will provide their location to you if are needing places to get married in New York.
Are you on a very tight budget while in New York? You may also want to consider a hostel over a Bed and Breakfast for your stay. Although hostel has ALL the same letters as hotels, it does not have ALL the high prices of a hotel which will be easier on your pocket since they can be obtained as low as US$7.00 per night and provides budget-oriented accommodation where you, the guest, can rent a bed, sometimes a bunk bed in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen.
