Will you be driving in Canada using a New York Drivers License? If so, here are some things that you will need to know.
New York Drivers License
You are allowed to drive in Canada with your New York Drivers license or any license issued in the USA as your license gives you full driving privileges in Canada as long as you remain a tourist. If you do plan to take up residency in Canada or stay there for a few years, you will need to convert your license to a Canadian license.
Auto Insurance
Auto insurance issued in New York is also valid for use in Canada as long as you remain a tourist. As, with the drivers license, you must convert it if you plan to take up residency.
International Drivers License
If you are a tourist in New York and need to drive in Canada, you will not have a New York Drivers license but you should have an International Drivers License. The International Drivers License needs to be obtained in your native country and can be used to drive in Canada up to a year or until it expires within a year.
