With physical attributes resembling cows, deer, donkeys and camels, Père David's deer cause many zoo-goers to stop in their tracks. These semi-aquatic animals may have been named for the French missionary who brought recognition to the species, but we think their Chinese nickname--which means "four not alike"--is more apt. Next time you're meandering towards Tiger Mountain, pause to see these fascinating creatures keeping cool beneath the water's surface.
